Introduction and Interview
Answer familiar questions naturally and directly.
Do you live in a house or an apartment?
I live in an apartment with my older sister. It’s not very large, but it has two bedrooms and enough space for both of us to live comfortably.
What’s your favorite room in your home?
My favorite room is my bedroom because it’s the quietest part of the apartment. I usually read, listen to music or just relax there after a busy day.
Would you like to move to a different place in the future?
Yes, eventually. I’d like to live somewhere with a little more space and better natural light, although I’d still prefer an apartment because it’s easier to maintain.
Do you like dancing?
I enjoy dancing at parties or with friends, but I’m definitely not a serious dancer. For me, it’s more about having fun than performing well.
Have you ever taken dance lessons?
No, I’ve never taken proper lessons. I’ve learned a few simple moves from friends and online videos, but nothing in a formal class.
Is dancing popular in your culture?
Yes, especially at weddings, festivals and public celebrations. There are also different traditional dances in various regions, although most people probably don’t practise them regularly.
Do you help strangers when you can?
Yes, if I can help safely and easily. For example, I’ll give directions, hold a door, or help someone carry something if they’re clearly struggling.
What kind of help do people usually need?
Usually it’s simple things like directions, finding a place, carrying bags or understanding how to use a machine. Sometimes people just need someone to explain something clearly.
Do you think people help each other less now?
Maybe in some situations, especially in big cities where people are busy and cautious around strangers. But I still see small acts of help quite often, so I don’t think kindness has disappeared.

Describe a time you tried wearing traditional clothing
- What clothing it was
- When you wore it
- Why you wore it
- How you felt wearing it
One time I tried wearing traditional clothing was during a cultural event at my university. A student organization was holding an international culture day, and several people were encouraged to wear clothing connected with their family background or local traditions. I borrowed a traditional Chinese-style outfit from a friend. It was a dark blue long jacket with simple embroidered details, and it looked much more formal than the clothes I normally wear. I wore it for most of the afternoon because I was helping at one of the event booths. At first, I felt slightly self-conscious because I wasn’t used to attracting attention with my clothes. A few people asked me about the design, and I was worried I wouldn’t know enough to answer their questions properly. After a while, though, I relaxed and started enjoying the experience. There were students wearing clothing from several different countries, so nobody looked out of place. What I liked most was that the clothing became an easy way to start conversations. People asked where it came from and when similar clothes were traditionally worn. By the end of the day, I felt quite proud wearing it. I wouldn’t dress like that every day, but the experience made traditional clothing feel more personal rather than something I only saw in photographs.
Is this experience still important to you now?
Yes, to some extent. It made me more curious about traditional clothing and helped me understand why people can feel emotionally connected to what they wear.

Discussion
Develop your ideas with reasons, examples, comparisons or qualifications where they fit.
Why is traditional clothing important in some cultures?
Traditional clothing can represent history, regional identity, religion or family customs, so it often carries meaning beyond appearance. Wearing it at weddings, festivals or ceremonies can make people feel connected to previous generations. It can also make cultural differences visible in a positive way. Even people who rarely wear traditional clothes may still value them because they symbolize where their community came from.
Do you think people today wear traditional clothing less often than before?
Yes, for everyday life I think that’s generally true. Modern clothing is usually cheaper, easier to buy and more practical for work or travel. However, traditional clothing hasn’t necessarily become unimportant. In some places, people still wear it for weddings, festivals, religious events or cultural performances. So the frequency may have decreased, while its symbolic value remains quite strong.
Should people dress differently in formal and informal situations?
Yes, within reason. Formal situations often involve expectations about respect and professionalism, so wearing something suitable can show that you understand the occasion. Informal settings allow much more freedom and comfort. However, the rules shouldn’t be unnecessarily strict. A workplace, for example, can maintain professional standards without requiring everyone to dress in exactly the same style.
How has fashion changed the way people think about identity?
Fashion gives people many more ways to express who they are or how they want to be seen. Clothing can communicate interests, profession, cultural background or even membership in a particular social group. Social media has strengthened this because people see styles from around the world instantly. At the same time, trends can create pressure to present a certain image rather than simply dressing comfortably.
