PART 1

Introduction and Interview

Answer familiar questions naturally and directly.

Topic 1 · Home and Accommodation

Do you live in a house or an apartment?

Sample Answer

I live in an apartment with one roommate. It’s not very large, but it’s close to my workplace and there are supermarkets, restaurants, and a metro station nearby.

What’s your favorite room in your home?

Sample Answer

My favorite room is the living room because it gets the most sunlight. I usually relax there after work, watch something, or have a chat with my roommate.

Would you like to move to a different place in the future?

Sample Answer

Yes, eventually. I’d like to move somewhere a little quieter with more space, but I wouldn’t want to live too far from public transport or the city center.

Topic 2 · Trust

Do you trust people easily?

Sample Answer

Not immediately. I’m friendly with new people, but I normally need some time to see whether they are reliable before I really trust them.

How do you build trust with someone?

Sample Answer

For me, trust develops through small things. If someone keeps their promises, speaks honestly, and behaves consistently over time, I gradually feel more comfortable relying on them.

Why is trust important in relationships?

Sample Answer

Because people need to feel safe with each other. Without trust, even simple things can turn into arguments, since both people may keep questioning what the other person says or does.

Topic 3 · Learning a Sport

Have you learned a new sport before?

Sample Answer

Yes, I learned badminton when I was in school. I wasn’t especially talented, but I enjoyed it because the basic rules were easy to understand and I could play with friends.

What sport would you like to learn?

Sample Answer

I’d like to learn swimming properly. I can stay in the water and move around a little, but I’ve never learned the correct techniques for different strokes.

Do you think it’s easier to learn sports as a child?

Sample Answer

Probably, because children are usually less afraid of making mistakes and they have more time to practise. Adults can learn well too, but they may be more cautious or self-conscious.

PART 2

Long Turn

Speak continuously and develop the cue card as one natural response.

CUE CARD

Describe a time you used social media for a useful purpose

You should say:
  • Which platform you used
  • What you used it for
  • How it helped you
  • Why it was useful rather than just entertaining
Sample Answer

A useful experience I had with social media was when I used a local Facebook group to find a second-hand desk for my apartment. I had just moved, and I needed somewhere comfortable to work, but I didn’t want to spend much money on new furniture. I searched the group and found a post from someone living about ten minutes away who was selling a simple wooden desk. I sent them a message, asked about the size and condition, and arranged a time to see it. The photos in the post were helpful because I could check whether it would fit in my room before going there. In the end, I bought it for a very reasonable price and carried it home with help from a friend. What made the experience useful was that social media connected me directly with someone nearby who had exactly what I needed. I wasn’t just scrolling through videos or looking at other people’s updates; I had a clear purpose and solved a practical problem. I still use local groups occasionally for recommendations, community information, or second-hand items. I try not to spend too much time browsing, but this experience showed me that social media can be genuinely practical.

ROUND-OFF QUESTION

Is this experience still important to you now?

Sample Answer

Yes, because I still use local online groups when I need practical information. It reminds me that social media isn’t only for entertainment.

PART 3

Discussion

Develop your ideas with reasons, examples, comparisons or qualifications where they fit.

Discussion Theme 1 · Social Media and Practical Uses

Should schools teach students how to use social media responsibly?

Sample Answer

Yes, because students start using social media at a young age, often before they fully understand privacy, advertising, or misinformation. Schools could teach them how to protect personal information, check sources, and respond to harmful behavior online. I don’t think schools should tell students which platforms to use, but they can teach general habits that apply everywhere. Those skills are becoming as practical as learning how to use email or search for reliable information.

Do you think social media is more beneficial or more harmful overall?

Sample Answer

I think it can be either, depending on how people use it. Social media helps people stay connected, discover useful information, and find communities they might not have locally. At the same time, it can waste time, spread false information, and make people compare themselves with unrealistic images. The platform itself is only part of the issue. Personal habits, design choices, and the quality of the content all affect whether the result is positive or harmful.

Discussion Theme 2 · Digital Habits and Self-Control

Should parents control children’s social media use more carefully?

Sample Answer

Yes, especially for younger children. Parents should set reasonable limits and know what kinds of platforms their children are using, because children may not recognize risks such as scams, inappropriate content, or pressure from strangers. However, total surveillance can damage trust, particularly with teenagers. I think the goal should be gradual independence: clear rules when children are young, followed by more freedom as they show that they can use social media responsibly.

Can technology also help people use technology more wisely?

Sample Answer

Yes, and many devices already do this. Phones can show screen-time reports, block distracting apps during certain hours, or remind users to take breaks. There are also browser tools that limit access to specific websites while someone is working. These features are useful because they turn technology into part of the solution. Still, a reminder can be ignored, so people also need some self-control and a reason to change their habits.
